DIY Maintenance

A home comfort system is a large investment for any household. That is why it is imperative to have your system tuned-up throughout the year. Just as you would change the oil in your car every so many miles, your furnace and air conditioner need service as well.

At Mission, we recommend having your system tuned-up in the spring before the cooling season and again in the fall before the heating season. Having your system inspected can prevent costly repairs or a complete furnace or air conditioner replacement.

What can you do to maintain your HVAC system?

  • Change Furnace Filter – A dirty furnace filter can cause your system to run harder than it needs to, resulting in lost efficiency and potential system complications.
  • Clear Debris From Outdoor Unit – Debris on an outdoor unit can restrict airflow and cut down on efficiency. Make sure grass clippings are directed away from the unit.
  • Make Sure All Panels And Screws Are In Place – Making sure the unit is not missing any paneling or screws will prevent further damage to furnace or air conditioner parts.
  • Turn On Your Unit Before You Need It – Turn on your system before you need it for a few minutes to make sure it comes on properly. Better to know there is something wrong and get it fixed before you really need your furnace or air conditioning unit.

To make it easier to remember your tune-ups throughout the year, we have maintenance agreements for our customers. These include two yearly tune-ups by our certified technicians along with a host of other benefits. We will call to schedule these appointments with you went spring and fall roll around so you don’t have to worry about remembering. As our customer, we want to make sure your HVAC system is running efficiently and safely!
